Research „Made in NRW“ for Society, Economy, Politics.
Johannes-Rau-Forschungsgemeinschaft e. V. – sustainable and future-oriented
For many years, the FiW, like many other German research institutions, stood alone in the face of many challenges. In many cases, the team was looking for a community of interests that could start negotiations with funding agencies, with politics and business and make networking and public relations visible. This was done at the university level of the RWTH partner institutes, the state and the federal government, for example, in the demand for equal treatment in research funding. The last few years have shown much success in the activities of many years. The strengthening through exchange of information and experience and the standing towards the major contact partners is enormous. With the research communities JRF and Zuse, the FiW finally stands in networks that act and move forward together.
The JRF is the research association of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The non-profit organisation was founded in 2014 as an umbrella organisation for 15 state-funded, legally independent, non-university and non-profit research institutes.
Under the guiding principle "Research 'Made in NRW' for Society, Economy, Politics", the JRF institutes work together across disciplines, share public relations work, promote young researchers and have themselves evaluated by external experts.
In addition to the scientific members, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is a founding member, represented by the Ministry of Culture and Science.
