FiW e. V. with three presentations at the Cologne Sewer and Wastewater Treatment Plants Colloquium
Water sector experts meet at the Maternushaus in Cologne.
At the well-attended 22nd Cologne Sewer and Wastewater Treatment Plants Colloquium (KKKK) on 16 and 17 September 2024, experts met at the Maternushaus in Cologne to discuss current practical issues facing water sector companies. Key topics included water-sensitive urban development, energy efficiency, decentralised rainwater management, sewer planning, digitalization and innovations in wastewater treatment. We at FiW were able to contribute to the successful programme with three presentations.
In the opening event, Dr Frank-Andreas Weber reported on the roadmap for adaptive wastewater-based epidemiology in Germany developed in the WBEready project with a view to the requirements of the EU Urban Wastewater Directive. Dr Kristoffer Ooms discussed the importance of the water sector as part of the energy transformation and presented current pilot examples of the semi-centralised integration of wastewater plants into the heat supply. In cooperation with StEB Köln, Sebastian Kerger reported on online ultrasonic sensors for measuring AFS for quality-based real-time monitoring of combined sewer systems as part of the ENTfrachtEN project. We would like to thank the organisers for the successful event.
