acwaRIUM at our Ölmühle venue

After a series of unforgettable events at the PIA, this year we at FiW cordially invited our colleagues from acwa - Aachen Wasser to the acwaRIUM with acwaGrillen on June 17 at the Ölmühle to test the new gas grill on the spacious grounds around our new home and to spend a lovely summer evening with cool drinks and games together. The afternoon began with a productive workshop between the acwa institutes with keynote speeches and the discussion of joint project proposals. Our special thanks go to this year's organizing committee led by Thurid Roth, Anika Wacht, Yazgül Cinar and Christoph Mund for a successful event and a water-related Olympics.

The acwaRIUM as an exchange format of the three acwa institutes ISA, PIA and FiW has proven itself for the second time. The event was opened by Prof. Thomas Wintgens, after which Max Zimmermann reported on the already established acwaReUse working group on water reuse. In two parallel sessions, exciting expertise and research needs for the control and optimization of biological wastewater treatment plants were then presented with keynote speeches by Kai Griebel, Carl Fritsch and Gabriel Schatzki and on the drainage system of the future by Thurid Roth, Daniela Schmitz and Jan-Lukas Wolber and discussed in plenary.

The subsequent barbecue gave us the opportunity to bid a warm farewell to our outgoing CEO Frank-Andreas Weber before his announced leave in end of June and to get to know his successor Jutta Niederste-Hollenberg in the community of acwa colleagues.
