Our longstanding employee Dr.-Ing. Manuel Krauss, head of the International Cooperation department, is taking over the management of the Africa Regional Forum. FiW congratulates him on his new position and wishes him every success in this exciting task.

The Africa Regional Forum of the German Water Partnership e.V. (GWP) met in Berlin on 7 December 2023. In addition to an exchange of expertise on experiences from various projects, the election of a new forum leadership was part of the agenda. After many years of dedicated and very successful leadership, Michael Kersting and Gerhard Simon stepped down. The members unanimously elected Manuel Krauss as Forum Director and Christian Schepers (Hermann Sewerin GmbH) as deputy.

GWP is the only network in the internationally orientated German water sector to bring together more than 300 companies, including industrial and component manufacturers, engineering companies, scientific institutions, associations and others. The association has set itself the goal of bundling information and interests, improving the framework conditions for business development and strengthening the international competitive position of German players. The focus is on promoting innovations and solutions for water management problems, particularly in developing and newly industrialising countries.

In addition to five thematic working groups, the association has established eight regional forums, including the forum for Africa. The group contributes to initiating business for German companies and institutions in the water sector on the African continent. The regional forum actively operates and expands a network of contacts, takes part in trade fairs and organises trips and conferences. It is also involved in various partnership projects, e.g., an association partnership with the African Water and Sanitation Association, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Members are offered networking opportunities and the possibility to carry out technical trainings.
