Professional exchange at the meeting of the Project Committee

On 17 December 2025, the members of the Project Committee of the “ClearWater” project convened in Berlin for their third meeting.

The third meeting of the Project Committee served as a platform for presenting and jointly evaluating the key results achieved during the previous project phases. Representatives from research and industry discussed the findings to date and contributed their perspectives to the further direction of the project. The “ClearWater” project is funded under the “Industrial Collective Research” (IGF) program by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, based on a resolution passed by the German Bundestag. Funding reference number: 01IF23192N.

FiW e.V. and GFaI e.V. welcomed participants from research and industry, as well as representatives of the DLR Project Management Agency and political decision-makers, including Dr. Verena Mertins from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

The exchange provided an opportunity to review the progress of the project and discuss current challenges. The discussion focused on the current project status, the results obtained so far from dual flocculation trials using alternative flocculants, and the next steps in the further development of an optical, AI-supported measurement system to assist with flocculant dosing in the wastewater sector.

The feedback from the Project Committee helps ensure that the work remains closely aligned with the requirements of the subsequent application. The goal remains to consider the transferability of laboratory results to practical application at an early stage. Regular exchanges within the committee remain a key element in bringing together scientific issues and practical experience.
We would like to thank all participants for the open exchange and constructive contributions. Experts interested in the project content are warmly invited to join the Project Committee and contribute their expertise to developing sustainable approaches for reducing polyacrylamide-based flocculants.

The next committee meeting is expected to take place on 2 June 2026 in Aachen.
