Alejandra Lenis successfully defends her dissertation

Alejandra Lenis, Head of the Wastewater Technology & Process Development Division at FiW, has successfully completed her doctoral dissertation titled “Biological Desulfurization of Biogas under Anoxic Conditions: Performance and Process Analysis.” The defense took place on August 14, 2026, at the Chair Urban Water Management and the Institute of Environmental Engineering.

The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johannes Pinnekamp. Prof. Dr. Martín Ramírez from the Wine and Food Research Institute (IVAGRO) of the University of Cádiz in Spain served as the second examiner.

Desulfurization is an indispensable step in biogas processing and is therefore essential for sustainable and safe energy production. Alejandra Lenis’s work makes an important contribution to the further development of this process and, at the same time, demonstrates its potential for application at wastewater treatment plants in the field of wastewater technology and process development.

We at the FiW extend our warmest congratulations to Alejandra on the successful completion of her doctoral dissertation and look forward to continuing our collaboration!
