Girl’s Day at the Research Institute for Water Management and Climate Future at RWTH Aachen e.V.

The annual Girls' Day took place again on 3 April under the motto “Dive into the world of drinking water and wastewater”

At this year's Girls' Day 2025, seven participants from the Aachen region were able to spend a day getting to know the everyday life of two female engineers in the water industry and learn how important the treatment of drinking water and the purification of wastewater are. Our motivation was to arouse the girls' interest in a future career in this field.

With the help of a thematic introduction by colleagues from the various departments at FiW, questions such as ‘What happens to the water before it comes out of the tap?’ or ‘What happens to the water after I have showered?’ were answered in the morning. Afterwards, we had a guided tour of the Roetgen drinking water treatment plant (TWA). Thanks to the friendly support of ‚WAG Wassergewinnungs- und aufbereitungsgesellschaft Nordeifel mbH‘, we were able to see the ultrafiltration and all other stations of the plant up close.

We would like to thank WAG for the exciting tour and all the girls for taking part. We are already looking forward to Girls'Day 2026!
