IndiKlimA invited to the ceremonial presentation of the funding decision as part of the ERDF call for proposals ‘Regio.NRW – Transformation’. Environment Minister Oliver Krischer highlights the project’s particular relevance

On Monday 13 July, representatives from six projects funded by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia under the ERDF call for proposals ‘Regio.NRW – Transformation’ gathered at the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf. The event recognised the projects approved in the second call for proposals and raised the profile of the projects and consortia at state level. At the same time, it promoted professional exchange and networking amongst the projects. The IndiKlimA project, which is receiving funding of €2,102,748.81 over a three-year period, was highlighted by Minister Oliver Krischer as being particularly relevant to the determined further development of climate adaptation at local authority level.

The IndiKlimA project consortium was represented by the FiW in its capacity as project coordinator. Prof. Thomas Wintgens, Dr Mark Braun and Jana Vredenburg accepted the funding notification from Minister Oliver Krischer on behalf of the IndiKlimA project at the ceremony.

Following a welcome address by Ms Alexandra Landsberg, Head of Department VIII for Sustainable Development, Climate Change, Circular Economy and Transformation, Minister Oliver Krischer addressed the project representatives with words of appreciation. In his remarks, the Minister expressly praised the innovative approaches and ambitious goals of the IndiKlimA consortium. This was followed by brief presentations of the individual projects and group photos to mark the handover of the funding notification. Afterwards, the project representatives had the opportunity to network and discuss the project content further over finger food and drinks. 

The IndiKlimA project aims to develop a standardised monitoring system for local and regional climate adaptation, thereby taking a decisive step towards the standardisation and professionalisation of climate adaptation. 

The IndiKlimA project consortium brings together scientific, technical and local authority expertise: the Research Institute for Water Management and Climate Future at RWTH Aachen University (FiW) is responsible for project coordination and indicator development. The Ruhr Regional Association (RVR) contributes its regional network of 53 member local authorities. Disy Informationssysteme GmbH is developing the software solution. The cities of Remscheid, Solingen and Wuppertal – which together form the Bergisch City Triangle – and the district of Mettmann are participating as local authority partners.
