IndiKlimA – Project workshop in Aachen: Current status of climate adaptation measures

On 22 and 23 April 2026, the IndiKlimA project partners met in person for the first time at a workshop held at the Research Institute for Water Management and Climate Future (FiW) at RWTH Aachen University. The focus was on presenting the current status of climate adaptation measures and the state of research, sharpening the shared understanding of the project’s content, and fostering a positive long-term working atmosphere within the team.

A key component of the workshop was the presentation of the work carried out to date by all project partners regarding climate adaptation and monitoring systems. During various presentation and working sessions, existing data sets at the federal, state, and local levels were discussed, and challenges posed by current concepts and tools were examined. Lively discussions on defining the project scope in relation to the DPSIR framework (Drivers, Pressures, State, Impacts, and Responses) as well as an initial stakeholder analysis helped identify and align differing perceptions and expectations. In conjunction with a presentation of the capabilities and limitations of the software used for creating the project’s technical deliverable, the shared understanding of the project’s scope was further refined. During a workshop aimed at developing a shared vision for the project, the foundation was laid for a trusting and goal-oriented collaboration.

Thus, the workshop was successfully concluded as a time for getting to know one another and building a shared understanding of the work. The FiW thanks all participants for the constructive exchange and looks forward to collaborating on the next project steps.
