FiW contribution at IWASA 2026: Talk on emergency water supply and urban resilience

On 15–16 January 2026, RWTH Aachen University hosted IWASA 2026 under the main theme “Water in the City of Tomorrow.” Organised by the IWW – Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management at RWTH Aachen University, the symposium brought together experts from research, public authorities and practice to discuss key challenges and solutions for urban water systems, climate adaptation and resilience.

Within the programme block “Solutions”, Dr.-Ing. Manuel Krauß (FiW e. V.) delivered a talk on emergency water supply in crisis and disaster situations and on strengthening urban resilience when systems are under pressure. Experiences from Cameroon once again highlighted that while contexts differ, core challenges—particularly preparedness and capacity development—are shared across regions.

FiW thanks the organisers for the open and constructive exchange throughout the conference. Special thanks go to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Schüttrumpf and the IWW team for hosting this highly relevant event.

The INTEWAR project referenced in the presentation was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space under the IKARIM initiative.
