Alejandra Lenis, Head of Wastewater Technology & Process Development at FiW e. V., was awarded the Science Prize in the Bronze category at the Biogas Innovation Congress. The award recognises outstanding scientific contributions to the further development of the biogas industry and is presented by a jury comprising scientists, association representatives and representatives of public institutions.
The award recognised Alejandra Lenis’s research about the biological desulphurisation of biogas under anoxic conditions. The work focuses on the development of an innovative process that enables the efficient removal of hydrogen sulphide from biogas, thereby contributing to improved gas quality and the sustainable use of biogenic energy sources.
Particularly noteworthy is the research’s strong practical relevance: in collaboration with SH Sulphtec GmbH, the developed process is currently being developed on an industrial scale as part of a research project. This successfully transfers scientific findings into industrial application – an important step for the further development of sustainable technologies in the field of biogas processing.
