Presentation of the OptiBot project at the 6th ‘Lippe-Kompass’ symposium
Presentation in the poster and model exhibition
The OptiBot project, funded by the MUNV, was presented at the “Lippe-Kompass” symposium on 5–6 October 2026 at the Alfred-Fischer-Halle in Hamm. At the start of the project, relevant process options for O₃ disintegration will be selected and criteria developed to enable these to be compared, both qualitatively and quantitatively, with conventional carbon sources.
How can an internal carbon source be utilised for nitrogen removal? The OptiBot project is addressing this question using the Bottrop wastewater treatment plant as a case study. To this end, O₃ disintegration is being investigated as an approach to utilising carbon in the return sludge or digested sludge for denitrification. The aim is to compare the environmental and economic aspects of this disintegration process with the use of conventional carbon sources. The objective is thus to increase the resilience of sewage treatment works by reducing their dependence on external resources.
At the symposium, Jens Schoth (EG) presented the project with a poster.
We look forward to getting off to a good start and working with our partners.
