Info event as part of Climate Adaptation Week

Together with geomer GmbH, FiW will once again be presenting results from the R2K-Klim+ pro-ject to interested parties from the fields of urban planning and the general public as part of Climate Adaptation Week

This year, Climate Adaptation Week takes place for the fourth time and raises the profile of projects, measures, and research in the field of climate adaptation in Germany. Under the motto #GemeinsamFürKlimaanpassung (Together for Climate Adaptation), FiW and geomer GmbH once again organized an event where interested parties from urban planning, engineering firms, and citizens can learn about the BMFTR-funded R2K-Klim+ project and its work in the field of heavy rain modeling.

During Climate Adaptation Week from September 15 to 19, 2025, numerous stakeholders will organize information events, hands-on activities, and interactive workshops through the Zentrum Klimaanpassung to highlight the progress and opportunities for climate adaptation in Germany and present them to the public.

The FiW is also actively contributing to climate adaptation with its research work and transfer projects and, together with geomer GmbH, is hosting an information and discussion event on September 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. The results of the R2K-Klim+ project for building a decision support system for climate adaptation measures in Duisburg and integrating basement rooms in heavy rain simulations will be presented and discussed.

Heavy rainfall events are becoming more frequent and intense as a result of climate change – with significant consequences for cities, infrastructure, and the population. In order to take targeted precautions and plan effective adaptation measures, it is crucial to calculate the potential damage of such events as realistically as possible. This is the only way to identify risks and derive priorities for action.

The event is aimed at municipal actors, planning and engineering offices, and all other interested parties. Participation is free of charge, but registration via the following email address is requested: isa-belle.beutelspacher@~@geomer.de.
