Prototype of a digital river twin on the upper course of river Emscher
Digital river twin – development of a minimum viable product to demonstrate a digital river twin in the watershed of Emschergenossenschaft (MVP-DGZ)
On behalf of Emschergenossenschaft and Lippeverband (EGLV), FiW has developed a concept for a digital river twin and implemented it together with EGLV and the company Orthodrone in the EGLV watershed. The digital river twin comprises a holistic representation of the river system and enables forward-looking water management with a level of detail adapted to the respective management tasks. As part of the project “Development of a minimum viable product to demonstrate a digital watercourse twin in the EGLV association area (MVP-DGZ)”, a prototype of a digital river twin was developed for the upper course of the river Emscher. The semi-automated use of drones as a mobile sensor data application was successfully tested in a system network with a water quality model.
The results of the project are published in Korrespondenz Wasserwirtschaft (17. Jahrgang, Nr. 5, Mai 2024).
