Demonstration of integrated monitoring and model-based decision support for greenhouse gas mitigation

MoniKlär – Monitoring of wastewater treatment plants to mitigate operational greenhouse gas emissions

The MoniKlär project develops an operational assistance system that provides wastewater treatment plant operators with real-time information on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and proposes targeted mitigation options. To this end, additional N₂O measurements, a mechanistic model, an AI-based model, and the current electricity emission factor are integrated within a unified platform. Measurement technologies, the integration platform, and the modelling approaches are tested and further developed over a two-year pilot phase under real operating conditions.
