Pollution Surcharge for the City of Wegberg
Introduction of a fee model for user-based wastewater charges
The city of Wegberg operates two sewage treatment plants (STPs) in the urban area, the Wegberg STP and the Arsbeck-Dalheim STP. The Wegberg STP was designed as a plant for the joint biological treatment of industrial and domestic wastewater and, in addition to municipal wastewater, is significantly influenced by industrial wastewater. FiW has monitored the discharge and fee situation in the city of Wegberg over the years. Finally, FiW was commissioned to develop a suitable model for levying polluter surcharges for the town of Wegberg's fee regulations. The Kommunal Agentur NRW was commissioned to integrate this into the regulations in a legally compliant manner.
